Everyone understands the devastation that swept across the Houston area over the past couple of weeks. Bridger is joining thousands of other companies and millions of individuals in trying to assist with the recovery effort, through a company-wide effort through the JJ Watt Foundation. Bridger and its small start-up staff, donated more than $2,000 to be used through Watt’s foundation.
Hurricane Harvey came ashore August 25 as the most powerful Texas hurricane in over 50 years. The massive storm killed an estimated 50 people, displaced more than 1 million, and damaged about 200,000 homes in a path of destruction stretching for more than 300 miles, caused mostly by the heavy rains and flooding that followed.
It is estimated the hurricane’s damage could top $180-billion, making it one of the costliest hurricanes to ever hit the United States. Congress is currently raising the nation’s debt ceiling in an effort to route emergency funds to the area as the clean-up and rebuilding gets underway.
As an insurance business, Bridger understands the devastation caused by such storms costs much more in emotional distress than physical damage. Insurance companies are there to mitigate the physical damage caused to people’s homes and businesses, and hope that such monetary payments will help ease the emotional distress. Our company’s thoughts and prayers are with the victims of hurricane Harvey.
